My Vision / Campaign

WE NEED TO ATTRACT MAJOR RETAIL DEVELOPMENTS AND INDUSTRIAL JOBS. THE COUNCIL’S ENTERPRISE UNIT MUST ENCOURAGE AND ASSIST SMALL NEW ENTERPRISES IN THE TOWNS OF TULLAMORE, CLARA, KILLEIGH, MUCKLAGH AND RAHAN.

THERE MUST BE A DEDICATED FUND TO REPAIR FOOTPATHS AND ROADS IN ALL HOUSING ESTATES. SO LITTLE HAS BEEN DONE OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS.

SERVICES AT THE MIDLAND REGIONAL HOSPITAL IN TULLAMORE MUST BE PROTECTED AND EXPANDED.

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES MUST BE PROMOTED BY THE NEW COUNCIL AND ORGANISATIONS SHOULD BE ASSISTED WITH PREMISES WHERE POSSIBLE.

SOCIAL AND AFFORDABLE HOUSES MUST BE BUILT BY THE COUNCIL.   THE LAST 5 YEARS HAS BEEN A WASTED OPPORTUNITY AS NOT EVEN ONE HOUSE WAS BUILT BY THE COUNCIL.

TULLAMORE TOWN CENTRE NEEDS A MAJOR LIFT AS WE HAVE FALLEN BEHIND OTHER MIDLAND TOWNS. MAJOR RETAIL DEVELOPOMENTS SHOULD BE ASSISTED IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE AS WE NEED TO KEEP LOCAL BUSINESS AND ATTRACT PEOPLE TO SHOP IN TULLAMORE.

FUNDING IS URGENTLY REQUIRED FOR RURAL ROADS. THE COUNCIL HAS TO CATER EQUALLY FOR THE COMMUNITIES IN RAHAN, MUCKLAGH, KILLEIGH, CAPPINCUR, CLARA, BALLYCUMBER, MOUNTBOLUS AND TUBBER.

THE ARTS CENTRE CAN PROVIDE GREAT SUPPORT TO SO MANY GROUPS IN THE AREA AND CAN ALSO BRING JOBS TO TULLAMORE AND IT HAS MY FULL SUPPORT.

THE COUNCIL NEEDS TO WORK CLOSELY WITH TULLAMORE DEW AND OTHER LOCAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATIONS TO ENSURE THAT THE DEW BRAND BRINGS NEW OPPORTUNITIES AND JOBS TO THE AREATHE COUNCIL HAS TO WORK CLOSELY WITH, AND BE RESPONSIVE TO, THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES. PEOPLE FEEL THAT THE COUNCIL HAS BECOME TOO DISTANT FROM COMMUNITIES.
